Tour: Post & Giveaway - THE VINCENT BOYS by Abbi Glines

Have you guys met the Vincent boys yet? If not, you gotta check them out! Today I am participating in A November to Remember celebrating The Vincent Boys by Abbi Glines. Be sure to check out the amazing giveaway below!

A NOVEMBER TO REMEMBER
Brought to You By:
THE VINCENT BOYS
By Abbi Glines

If you haven't read The Vincent Boys yet, it is about two guys (Beau and Sawyer) in love with the same girl. I can't help it, I love love triangles!  I mean c'mon, who wouldn't want two hot guys fighting over you?

Participants of this tour had to pick a guy who had stolen or broken their heart. I happened to pick the hottest guy of this year!

Channing Tatum! *swooooon*. How could you not love him? I know that our paths should have crossed at some point. I feel it!

He captured, and broke, my heart in Dear John. I had read the book before seeing the movie and Channing was the perfect John! The letters he wrote, how much he loved Savannah...ah, it was magical! But I wanted him to FIGHT more for her. Dang it! If the movie would have ended the same as the book, I would have shed many tears but I was glad to see that small glimmer of hope near the end.

We all have heartbreakers in our lives. Book lovers meet new ones with each turn of the page :) But it's fun to picture someone like the hunk above and know that a happily ever after could be in the future.

Get seduced by a sizzling account of attraction and betrayal in this previously self-published phenomenon.
Ashton is getting tired of being good, of impressing her parents and playing ideal girlfriend to Sawyer Vincent. Sawyer is perfect, a regular Prince Charming, but when he leaves town for the summer, it’s his cousin Beau who catches Ashton’s eye. Beau is the sexiest guy she’s ever seen, and even though he’s dangerous, Ashton is drawn to him.
Beau loves his cousin like a brother, so the last thing he wants to do is make a move on Sawyer’s girl. Ashton is off-limits, absolutely. That’s why he does his best to keep his distance, even though he’s been in love with her forever. When Ashton wants to rekindle their childhood friendship in Sawyer’s absence, Beau knows he should say no.
Ashton and Beau don’t want to hurt Sawyer. But the more they try to stay away from each other, the more intense their urges become. It’s getting way too hard to resist....

Getting a boy to fall head-over-heels in love with you isn’t easy. Especially when he’s been in love with your cousin for as long as you can remember.

Lana has lived her life in her cousin’s shadow. Ashton always made perfect grades, had tons of friends, and looks model-perfect. And she’s always had Sawyer Vincent—the only boy Lana’s ever wanted—wrapped around her finger. But now things are different. Lana has a chance to make Sawyer see her, and she’s taking it. If only he’d get over Ashton—because Lana is sick of second-best.

Sawyer’s heart is broken. He’s lost his best girl to his best friend. And then Lana comes to town. Ashton’s cousin has always been sweet and soft-spoken, but now she’s drop-dead gorgeous as well. Sawyer doesn’t know if Lana can heal his broken heart, but spending time with her might at least make Ashton jealous.

What starts as a carefree fling becomes a lusty game of seduction. Sawyer and Lana may have different motives, but their scintillating hookups are the same kind of steamy. . .

Tour: Guest Post & Giveaway: LUMINOSITY by Stephanie Thomas

Stephanie Thomas has stopped by today to tell us a little about the world we will see in her book Luminosity. Be sure to sign up for the giveaway below!

Can you describe the world we will read about in Luminosity?

Luminosity is set in a dystopian world. The first book of The Raven Chronicles mostly takes place in The City, which is…exactly what it sounds like: a city! This city was created after a war that destroyed most of what was formally known as America. The survivors rebuilt on the East Coast, in this city that is protected with a force field-like shield and an electric barrier fence.

The City is mostly a dark place. In my head, I pictured it kind of like Gothim City. The “normal” people who live inside The City are called Citizens. They are kept inside the barricades for their own safety from whatever lies outside the fences. They must abide by curfew and other rules, but they don’t think of themselves as being oppressed. In fact, they are quite happy to have a place that is deemed safe enough to thrive.

The Seers are those who have the ability to see into the future and have been tasked with protecting the Citizens to the best of their ability. They live in the Institution, which is the tallest and most central building of The City. You’ll have to read to find out more about this mysterious place!

The only other place mentioned in book one would be Aura, where the Dreamcatchers live. Little is known about Aura as it’s so far away and houses the enemy.

Technology also has a huge role to play in Luminosity, though it is staggered and a bit inconsistent at best. The Seers definitely have some advanced technology, but there are times where it might be thought the Dreamcatchers know a bit more about what they are working with in that regard. It’s an interesting element to explore, since science and technology can be used to help and to hurt depending on whose hands it falls into.

I hope you enjoy the world I’ve created! I wish I could say more, but I don’t want to give anything away, so if you are curious, you’ll have to take a peek for yourself and see! Happy Reading!

About Stephanie:
Stephanie Thomas has been writing ever since she could put letters together to form words. When she was a small child, she would present her mother and father with self-made newspapers filled up with make believe stories and pictures. Her love for writing followed her all throughout her schooling, where she entered and won writing contests of all sorts. Stephanie decided to become an English teacher and completed her B.A. at The Pennsylvania State University. While teaching, she later went on to get her Master’s in writing from The Johns Hopkins University. She completed her very first manuscript during her graduate studies, and by the end of the program, she had completed two more. Stephanie is quick to tell anyone that she’s a born and raised Philadelphian, and her heart will always belong there. She moved to Baltimore with her husband, and they’ve been living there for the last five years with their doggie, Sailor, and their rabbit, Buns (aka “T Sizzle).

The Institution depends on me to keep the City safe from our enemy, the Dreamcatchers, but I’m finding it harder to do while keeping a secret from everyone, including my best friend Gabe. It is a secret that could put us all in danger. A secret that could kill me and everyone close to me.

But the enemy has been coming to me in my dreams, and I think I’m falling in love with him. He says they’re coming. He says they’re angry. And I think I’ve already helped them win.

Tour: Guest Post & Giveaway: BITTERSWEET SERAPHIM by Debra Anastasia

Today Debra Anastasia book Bittersweet Saraphim is released into the wild and we are celebrating with an extra special visit and giveaway. Check it out below.

“Jessica. I’ve seen you in action. I know you’ll be brave enough to help me. I’m looking for someone. She’s a complete nimrod and untrustworthy. I told her my story, spilled my evil soul to her and she wrote it all down. Now, because I gave her so much she’s stabbed me in the back. First, in Crushed Seraphim I thought she’d help me find love. Instead she put my Emma in danger. Her evil imagination has conjured up a horrible bastard that wants to hurt Emma. Will hurt Emma. During my reign as Satan I’ve romanced thousands of women. I also engineered some of the deadliest, inescapable traps Hell had ever seen. My angel Emma is now a victim of torture that I designed. I have to get to her.

Debra Anastasia won’t tell me crap about what happens.

“Live the journey!” she tells me.

I could just pop her head off her damn neck. Now, she thinks she can trust me to “promote” Bittersweet Seraphim. Jessica, you need to tell me where Debra is. I’ve seen you two on twitter going back and forth. “ ~Jack

Bittersweet Seraphim, the sequel to Crushed Seraphim, has been released from Hell.

Satan Jack invites you to come…and indulge yourself in his journey to save the angel he loves. After running Hell for over a thousand years, one foul-mouthed Seraph has changed his end game.

Even if it means destroying the universe, Jack refuses to give up on his woman. He didn’t know what love was until Emma’s skin pressed against his, the addiction to any of his other vices paling in comparison. Jack has never been a fearful man, but he gets it now. Fear comes when you have something to lose. Or someone.

Trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBQEc1_iIsE

Summary:

Suffering is worst when you’re doing it alone. But Emma’s taking Hell like an angel—even though her languishing began with having her seraph wings torn from her back. Now her worst enemy lords his body and his evil desires over her while she tries desperately to remember the words to her favorite prayer.

As Devil, Jack used to have Hell and its women humming like well-oiled machines. Too bad he’s nowhere near the place now. Stuck on Earth as a human, he must work with a ragtag team of exiled minions and half-breeds to save the angel who’s become all that matters.

Rescuing a seraph is the plan, but breaking into Hell means letting evil things out. Once they collide, minions and angels converge in the battle of the ages: good versus evil. But which side is which? Will Jack destroy the world as he fights to save Emma, his true and timeless love, from a damnation he designed?

An action-packed sequel to Crushed Seraphim, this tale reveals—time and again—what happens when the heart’s deepest desires break free. With a story both sizzling and sensual, emotional and enigmatic, Debra Anastasia invites readers to join a battle with nothing less than love on the line.

My response to Jack- "Yes, Jack... I may know where she is but I'll never tell! However, I will give you a hint. If you ever see a woman screaming out random, somewhat delusional sayings in public, that may be Debra. She has a history of this and it could make her easier to find. But, never tell her I told you her secret....

Tour: Interview - THIS IS NOT A DRILL by Beck McDowell

Today I have the wonderful Beck McDowell here to talk a little about her new book, This is Not a Drill

Be sure to check the links below to follow along with the rest of the tour.

1. As someone who taught in schools, were you ever afraid of a situation like what happens in your book, happening in your classroom or school?

I was never consciously afraid of violence in my classroom, but I dreamed about it several times, so I know the anxiety was there. It’s just such a huge responsibility, knowing that – if something happens – the lives of those 20 or 30 kids are in your hands. I also traveled in Europe with my students in summers, so I was very aware of safety issues.

Fortunately, nothing like this ever happened to me, although I remember several occasions when a student was found carrying a gun in our building. The only time I ever felt danger was when I was pregnant and got knocked to the ground while trying to break up a fight. A huge crowd of students was surging forward to watch and couldn’t see me on the floor. It was terrifying! Fortunately, another teacher came, broke it up, and rescued me. I haven’t tried to break up a fight since.

2. What inspired you to tell this story?

My then 2nd grade nephew told me they’d been instructed, if they were in the bathroom and heard gunshots in the hall, to lock the stall, sit on the toilet, and pull their feet up so an intruder wouldn’t see them. It was heartbreaking to picture him in there alone and terrified. It made me feel like kids were already losing their innocence when we had to paint that kind of scenario for them. I hate that our world requires those kinds of scary conversations with our children, but it’s obvious, in light of recent events, that teaching them to hit the floor if shooting starts might save their lives. How do you teach that without traumatizing them – but how can you risk not teaching it?

3. What can you tell us about Emery and Jake?

Emery and Jake are both fighting their own inner battles long before they’re involved in the classroom one. She’s dealing with an absentee parent, a domineering one, and a puzzling illness. Jake is reeling from the death of a parent, a difficult step-parent, and a damaged reputation. But I don’t think I’ve overloaded their lives with unrealistic conflict. So many of the teens I taught were facing these huge life issues – several at once – and yet they moved through the school day with poise and strength that amazed me. I only knew about those incredible hardships through their writing or sometimes when they came after school to talk; I was honored by their trust when they shared problems with me.

Emery and Jake are a lot like the students I taught – they’re smart and strong and brave when the need arises. They draw on inner resources they didn’t even know they had when facing down an armed gunman. I’d trust my kids to respond with the same calm competence in a real crisis.

4. What was the most difficult part of writing such an emotional story?

The last few chapters were the hardest part to write. There can’t be a truly happy ending to a story like this. When unstable people are armed, we can’t always protect the innocent. I wanted a resolution that made sense – one that readers could accept if not embrace. I wrote what I felt would actually happen in a situation like this  -- but with a twist or two to keep readers guessing.

5. What do you hope readers take from this story?

I hope to foster a little better understanding of post traumatic stress. Our culture frowns on what’s considered “weakness” if someone needs help, when – in reality – any reasonable person would be deeply troubled by war or abuse or an accident or tragedy. Our soldiers face a huge adjustment coming home from war. Brian Stutts is the “bad guy” – no doubt – but would he have instigated this horrific tragedy in a first grade classroom if he’d had psychological help?

I’d also like to increase awareness of POTS, which is easy to treat but tricky to diagnose – and affects 1 in 100 teens.  I hope, too, that the bravery of Emery and Jake will inspire any readers who find themselves in a dangerous situation to stay calm and help those around them.

This is Not a Drill by Beck McDowell
Publisher: Nancy Paulsen Books (October 25th, 2012)
Reading Level: Young Adult
Hardcover: 224 pages
Two teens try to save a class of first-graders from a gun-wielding soldier suffering from PTSD

When high school seniors Emery and Jake are taken hostage in the classroom where they tutor, they must work together to calm both the terrified children and the gunman threatening them--a task made even more difficult by their recent break-up. Brian Stutts, a soldier suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after serving in Iraq, uses deadly force when he's denied access to his son because of a custody battle. The children's fate is in the hands of the two teens, each recovering from great loss, who now must reestablish trust in a relationship damaged by betrayal. Told through Emery and Jake's alternating viewpoints, this gripping novel features characters teens will identify with and explores the often-hidden damages of war.

Tour: Interview & Giveaway - BITTER BLOOD by Rachel Caine

I am a huge fan of the Morganville Vampires series! The 13th book, Bitter Blood, was just released yesterday and I have a FABULOUS prize pack you can win!

It's also time for the Morganville Mayoral Elections!

Rachel Caine will be hosting a video contest on her website (http://www.morganvillevampire.com) in which fans can submit their endorsement ads for their ideal Morganville Mayor! Go there and VOTE, or submit your own video!

1.       I'm sure the election is an exciting time in Morganville. What do you feel are important qualities needed in the next Morganville mayor?

I think what the vampires are looking for is someone who will sit quietly on the town’s council and do what they’re told … but I feel that Morganville needs something more than that. Definitely, the new mayor will need to have good survival instincts, crazy diplomatic skills, and clothes that don’t show bloodstains.

2. Can you share with us some strengths and weaknesses of each political party (Human vs Vampire)?

Well, the humans seem to be disorganized and separated on key issues, such as mixed-party marriages (though to be fair, the vampires have some divisions as well). Of course, the humans will definitely bring out voters in big numbers this time around, since the candidates are so polarizing. Mostly, they’ll probably be out to vote against Monica Morrell.

On the vampire side, I think their complacence may well be their undoing …

3. What can you tell us about the new TV show that makes its appearance in Morganville in Bitter Blood?

You know how many ghost-hunter reality shows there are now? A lot. And this is yet another one, desperately seeking some creepy, blurry footage and barely-credible hauntings to boost their ratings … and they’ve come to the wrong place, because Morganville’s going to give them a whole lot more than they ever bargained for. However, the ghost hunters are going to stir up a lot of trouble in the ghost world, bringing back some unquiet spirits that are both harmful and helpful. They’ll also give our most recent Glass House ghost some serious problems!

4. Which character do you think will surprise readers the most in Bitter Blood?

Well, to absolutely no one’s surprise, Myrnin will continue to be unpredictable … but for the first time, you’ll get his point of view, and it’s a delicious slice of crazy. So hopefully, that will deliver some thrills!

5. Each book in the Morganville series is so full of action and drama! What are some things you've learned along the way that enable you to keep writing such a complex series?

The biggest thing is to let the characters drive not just the action, but the consequences of the action … it’s the story of how they deal with what happens, not just what happens. It’s tough to allow your characters to grow and change and become new people, because it’s a bit scary, but in a long-running series I think that’s key.

6. Do you think there is a chance this series will someday be a TV show? Because honestly, that would ROCK! :)

I WISH! That would indeed be awesome and fun, but right now, it appears that TV is a little be scared of vampires. They’ve been so scarily successful that there’s a feeling among the show-buyers that people might be over them, and the last thing a TV network wants is a show nobody will watch. Of course, it’s a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy to say, “Nobody watches vampire shows anymore,” and then not put any on TV, but there you go. These are the times in which we live. But it’ll change again. Vampires always come back. (cue dramatic music)

Thanks for hosting me today, and for your support of the series! And remember: vote!

Tour Review: Deity by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Deity by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press (November 6th, 2012)
Reading Level: Young Adult
Paperback: 360 pages
Series: Covenant, #3
Rating: 5 of 5 stars
"History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time. "

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...

Review:

Goodness! Just when you think that a series couldn't POSSIBLY get better, it does! Jennifer L. Armentrout has managed to create, not just a book, but an entire world that surrounds these characters where they grow, change, and deal with complex issues they must overcome in order to survive. The Covenant series draws in the reader immediately and I swear there could be a bright pink elephant danging in my house and I wouldn't have noticed.

Poor Alex. Yes, she has a lot to deal with but what better way than to have 2 hot guys to help you along the journey? Seth is infuriating but I love him. I can't help but swoon at his antics and enjoy the intense connection he shares with Alex. On the other hand, Aiden is super strong and devoted. He remains the "strong and silent" one but when Alex needs him there is nothing that can get in his way.  It's seriously like having the best of both worlds!

I won't give too much away with the plot but I will say that I never know where one of Jennifer's books will lead me. This one seriously had me gasping by the end. I couldn't believe the turn of events (AT ALL!) and was screaming at the book. Yes, this may mean I'm nuts, but that's just what these books do to me! I actually have to make myself slow down and read them so I won't miss any small details.

Alex has grown leaps and bounds since the first book in this series and it was incredible to see her change as her powers and fate come into focus. Everything with the Council comes to a head and she is forced to deal with even more issues. This book had one of the most outstanding climaxes ever! But now I have to deal with the withdrawals till I can get my hands on Apollyon

If you haven't started this series, ARE YOU LIVING UNDER A ROCK? DO IT! I promise you will love it and, lucky for you, you have 3 fabulous books in the series already available to read.

Tour: DEAR TEEN ME - Interview with Miranda Kenneally

Interview with Miranda Kenneally

1. Was there any certain moment you had as a teen that you feel changed your life?

-- Yes. When I was 18, I made a decision to leave Tennessee and go to college in Washington, D.C. I would be leaving behind everything I knew and didn't have any money at all. I went in to see the school guidance counselor and she told me that I would probably fail if I went to DC, so I might as well stay at the local community college. That's when I made the decision that I was never going to let anyone tell me how to live my life or hold me back.

2. If you could give your 15 year old self one piece of advice, what would it be?

-- Eat better! I didn't know much about nutrition or healthy food choices until college.

3. Looking back, is there something you would have changed about your teen years?

-- I wouldn't have spent so much time pining over the wrong guys, especially the one that hooked up with me and then went and hooked up with a friend of mine. I should've been open to dating other people.

4. What do you feel are the biggest challenges teen face today, compared to what we experienced a few years ago?

I think teens today are under pressure to do a lot more homework than in the past. Teens are challenged to work harder than ever before. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I wish that teens had time to have lots of fun and make mistakes and do crazy things. You don't only learn from reading books. You learn from life experiences. I think that adults in America work crazy hours and feel stressed a lot, and if we continue down this path of Doing Way Too Much Stuff and Working Too Much, it will only get tougher on our kids.

Dear Teen Me
Published: Zest Books (October 30th, 2012
Reading Level: Young Adult
Paperback: 192 pages
Dear Teen Me includes advice from over 70 YA authors (including Lauren Oliver, Ellen Hopkins, and Nancy Holder, to name a few) to their teenage selves. The letters cover a wide range of topics, including physical abuse, body issues, bullying, friendship, love, and enough insecurities to fill an auditorium. So pick a page, and find out which of your favorite authors had a really bad first kiss? Who found true love at 18? Who wishes he’d had more fun in high school instead of studying so hard? Some authors write diary entries, some write letters, and a few graphic novelists turn their stories into visual art. And whether you hang out with the theater kids, the band geeks, the bad boys, the loners, the class presidents, the delinquents, the jocks, or the nerds, you’ll find friends--and a lot of familiar faces--in the course of Dear Teen Me.
