Published: July 9th, 2012
Reading Level: Young Adult
Series: Brightest Kind of Darkness, #2
Rating: 5 of 5 stars
Once Nara combines her prophetic ability with Ethan’s power to outsmart Fate at his own deadly cat-and-mouse game, she’s more determined than ever to help Ethan learn the meaning behind the raven sword tattoo that suddenly appeared on his back after their confrontation with Fate.

During her quest to uncover the tattoo’s secrets, Nara enlists the help of some new friends and discovers her own surprising connection to Ethan.

While Nara digs deeper into the mystery, her desire for answers leads her down a dangerous path full of powerful and ruthless enemies. Swept into an age-old battle, Nara quickly learns that keeping one’s enemies close can be a necessary evil, making an intangible enemy she can control far more preferable to the human enemies she can’t.

Review:

This is such a beautiful series! Although it had been a while since I'd read Brightest Kind of Darkness, I was able to jump right back into this creepy, wonderful world. There was a part of Lucid I hated but loved at the same time. Ethan is away (boo). I really missed him! However, he needed that time to figure his personal things involving his family and I believe that Nara needed that time to be her own person for a while as well. Many times in books the characters fall apart when they have to be away but I really think this helped Ethan and Nara be a stronger couple.

We are introduced to a few new characters, Drystan and Harper, who I really enjoyed! It's tricky adding new characters to a story but P.T. did this flawlessly! They added an entirely new aspect to the story and I enjoyed getting to know them and seeing how they were connected to everything going on.

Nara spends a lot of time in this book trying to find out the meaning behind the ravens and how exactly her and Ethan are connected. It was a fun puzzle to unravel and I really enjoyed hearing all the facts about ravens.

This series may not look creepy, but I promise it will make you shiver! There is just something about knowing fate is waiting that just brings up that creepy factor. Lucid is full of action and suspense too. The climax of the story had me on the edge of my seat. On top of that, once Ethan returns there is no denying the relationship between him and Nara. Their chemistry sparks off the page! He's just super HOT! Together, they are just incredible!

If you haven't started this series yet, do it! It's a mix of Final Destination but with much more romance and drama. A definite must read!
